Just a little question about the medical: can you fail the Medical if you have "high blood pressure?" In this case, what is acceptable? At the moment i am around 125/80, but my parents are doctors and they say that's not good. I don't want to kill myself to get through the tests if i am doomed from the start. My second question is what happens if you have an eyesight quota of -3.0 but then the doctor looks at you during the medical and says you have -3.25 .... what happens then? Would you get told to go home?

Hey MGM,
may i ask you what kind of doctors your parents are? I have been working for about 9 months in Emergency Medical Service, and i can tell you that a value of 120/80 is quite nice. So don't worry about that, it's all right. If i remeber correctly 160 is the maximum acceptable value.
I am not quite familiar with the eyesight quota. I know that a value of +/- 3.0 is acceptable but i have heard about cases in which a corneal curvature caused people to fail anyhow. But i don't want to tell you something wrong. Concerning this, you better contact the LH-Medical-Service.
I hope i was able to help you a bit... |

Hey Phil! Thanxs for the reply. My mother is the working "doctor", so to speak, and my father the pharamacist. My mum said that having 120/75 (in any case lower than 80) was better; that's the reason why i asked. With regards to your "corneal curvature" remark, i have no idea what that is! I have mild Astigmatism (i think that is what you were refering to?) but that is common for someone with short-sightedness. I will, however, give the nice people at LH a call and ask them. I must say though, that your english is remarkable good! _________________ AB: 03.10.2007
